I am back from my trip- exhausted, but determined to share my adventures (and pictures!) with all of you. I kept a journal throughout my travels and have decided the best way to do this blog is break it down day by day and just transcribe my entries. So, here goes
Day I- January 2nd, 2007
First day in Quito- exhausted from a very long day of traveling. Smooth start- didn't forget anything important. Our hotel is absolutely lovely- we have a suite with a sitting room and a balcony over-looking the Andes Mountains. We'll see how the view is tomorrow morning considering we got in after dark.
We had a few minutes in our rooms before we met back up with the group to go to the night-life area of town. We wandered the streets a bit until we found a place we couldn't refuse- "Ecuadorian Food"
The menu looked appealing with some lovely delicacies including cow tongue and a very common Ecuadorian dish- Cuy (Guinea Pig). Now where else would I be able to order such a delicacy (some may call it- others may call it a domesticated pet). Regardless, I decided to be daring.
Although I received a 1/2 Cuy, I received a head, a body and a fine piece of ass all fried up and served with a side of avacado. A little chewy, but overall, delicious- once you got over the concept that it was a Guinea Pig, and the little claws eyes and ears.

We called it an early night after we wandered around a bit more.
